Project

Survey & Engineering Projects were asked to carry out a Bathymetric Survey of a lake outside a hotel. The hotel wanted to understand more about their lake and to plan future developments.

Challenges

When working in and around water, safety is paramount. The safest option was to keep our engineers out of the water. Our solution was to use a Remotely Operated Vehicle fitted with an echo sounder. The echo sounder would return a beep giving us a depth measurement. The boat kept constant communication with a Total Station set up nearby to provide real time data of the positioning of the boat.

Results

SEP prepared an underwater topographic AutoCAD drawing and a meshed digital terrain model showing a full height level map of the lake.
