Survey & Engineering Projects were asked to produce a full 3D solid model of a fertiliser production plant. This was to be used for explosion and consequence analysis.
Challenges
Live working environments offer different complexities, especially when they have hazardous or chemical materials on site that absolutely cannot be interfered with. The size of the plant meant we needed to scan large areas, multiple Laser Scanners were used to survey the large areas with speed and accuracy, capturing millions of points per second in a non-intrusive way.
Results
A full 3D model was produced for the site to test for various situations safely including: Clash Detection, Consequence Analysis, Explosion Modelling, Vapour Clouds. Our client now has a 3D model of their site that can be used again in the future for many other things.
