Project

SEP were tasked with carrying out a Topographical survey and installing precise control at the main runway at East Midlands Airport which was to be resurfaced.

Challenges

  • Survey works are not to inhibit the normal flight patterns for the international airport meaning that the survey was performed during the night over three slots.

  • Winter and night time conditions presented unique challenges to the project

Results

The survey works were completed using our state of the art Focus 35 Robotic Total Stations over a period of three weekend night shifts. A Topographical and Level survey was issued showing existing levels and allowed the designers to understand high and low spots over the full length of the airfield to millimetre accuracy
